Re:

That may be true, mneme, but I think the only thing that may have helped this particular situation along is if they didn't know each other in the first place. Or would that have made is worse? Like I wrote, we'll never know!

Re:

I'm still not sure on that one, Utah. I'd rather go on the assumption that the women did not know each other, and sparks would have only flown had he still been sitting there to greet each one. Then again . . .

Hi Jimmy.. I'm with Kabu on this.  Women can be quite sophisticated and creative in these situations:)

I think Kabu may of hit on something

Re:

That's good, Against. There's a huge difference between getting drunk, and being "comfortably numb!" I always feel the need to maintain control. Comfortably numb allows that . . . drunk does not!

Re: JimmyA

Nothing to dispute from here, Wiley. In fact, this post outdrank me for a lifetime! I just can't imagine myself drinking shot after shot after shot like that! And making dates with two different women for the same evening? Forget about it!

Re: weird and it would have been cheaper to just not show up. The two ladie

Perhaps, Kabu. But if I recall, for some reason, he didn't realize his "mistake" until he had already gotten to the club. As for the two ladies eventually meeting up and "enjoying a lovely evening together," I would find that extremely difficult to conceive! I think the claws would have been out once they realized why they were both there!

Re:

I guess, adnohr, that many a soap opera plot has derived from such situations.   I don't dispute your claims at all, but I find it hard to imagine it being perfectly reasonable for a bartender to pour out that many shots for one patron at one time. I'm also fairly certain that not only did the bartender not take his keys away, but I'm sure there were no rooms available for him to "sleep it off" later. Very commendable that your establishment operated that way. Yes, "dumb sap" indeed!

I, too, rarely go one or two drinks.

may then have enjoyed a lovely evening together.

Having once owned a bar, I can tell you that if the customer pays up front, he can have as many drinks poured in whatever way desired. We also took his/her car keys, if the person was driving before the drinking starts, and offered a room (we had 10 of them upstairs) at cut rates. I never did see an example of the situation you write about here (dumb sap!) but have seen unexpected spouse arrival cause some friction.

Re:

It sure was, Annicita! I think in the old days of saloons and such, the bartender would probably have just given him the whole bottle and one glass, and let him keep drinking until he passed out and fell off the stool! Yes, I would have loved to have seen the outcome of his "mulitple dates," but just as interesting to me, I would also love to know how he got that bartender to pour all of those shots at once! Even a "vet" would have paced themselves . . .

Re:

Well, FSI, I'm sure it's "good stuff" to some, but as I wrote, I'm a bit of a teatotler myself. I was just thankful he wasn't pouring shots of Jack Daniels or anything of that magnitude! Just one of those would probably have made me sick! And as far as the outcome of that little trio's eventual get-together . . . we'll never know!

Re:

You know, luster, I believe my friend Kim and I thought the same thing, and at some point may have even suggested that to him. Why he actually decided to "stick it out" and face the music ( somewhat drunk, of course ) I don't recall! I was never a Cassanova myself, trying to create multiple dates, but I know one thing . . . I personally would have NEVER made a date with two different women for the same night!

Re: Jimmy

Well, Naut, like I wrote, I hadn't really planned on trying any Apple Schnapps myself; they were more or less thrust upon me! Glad you enjoyed my little tale. I too would love to have been there to possibly see any fur fly if and when these two gals finally showed up!

oh wow!  that's one heck of a lot of alcohol even for a veteran

That guy sure put himself into quite a situation! You have me wondering what happened to them...Reading this reminded me of a guy who drank Schnapp's. As a nondrinker, I'm sure what kind all that good stuff.

Jimmy

Quite the story, and very well told! Just too bad you couldn't stick around to observe the denouement...

Oh, and you're way ahead of me! Although I've had my share of this and that, I've never tried Apple Schnapps, LOL...
