Well, now you know two things:
1. Why I'm not dating this fellow;
2. Why I talk about it as much as possible. Maybe someone will learn something from my experience - and I hope it isn't the abusers.

What frosted me...
was that with his dad, it was all smoke and mirrors. My own mother chalked it up to their ethnic group, but the truth is that this sort of behavior crosses ethnic lines and is actually just a variation of the behavior I've been describing (where the abuser wants you to have one impression of him and the truth is the exact opposite).

Most men, in general, have the need to, at least, seem to be the ones in control. They pay for things; they lead the way; they place the orders...yadda yadda. Some of it is seen as chivalry. Some of it is simply disgusting.
