Re: JimmyA

Don't worry. I agree with you. And believe it or not, I'm actually not pro-Obama. I've never considered myself to be a Democrat, a Republican, or even an Independent. I'm a Free-Thinking Non-Conformist who's stuck in this form of government because I just happened to have been born in this country. All I would like in the White House is someone . . . anyone . . . who actually gives a damn about John & Jane Q. Public, and not just their own party or constituency. I don't think that's too much to ask . . .

Jimmy is right, we should know our history. Perhaps the man was speaking from histories perception of Nero? As for the truth of his words they are simple enough for folks to check out. These are not matters of opinion. Obama said in his book that his parents meet at the Selma, Alabama march. Too bad that his birth date comes first. He said to Rev. Wright that the problem with him (Wright) is that he has to tell the truth and He (Obama) does not. The movie 2016 should be mandatory for each voter. This man, this president will destroy the American way of life as he seeks to bring us down to the rest of the world instead of bringing the rest of the world up to us. It is too darn bad that no one reads news and politics any more.

I enjoyed reading his argument. I see right now the polls are dead even.

Thank you for your comment. Yes I will check out your post of July 30. I believe most people who use this term credited to Nero comes from attitude of his lackadaisical act of playing the fiddle while Rome fell (which meant only that he didn't give a damn). The point of importance to me is the changeability of the government of Rome. It changed faster than the weather down South. It is easy to pin a lot of the patterns of Obama to those of the Romans, a little here and a little there. I gather you are pro Obama. You see that is how this country is, that is your right. But after one more run you will not have that much freedom, none of choice. The laws regarding new regulations are astronomical.

Mr. Massie is certainly entitled to his opinion, and as with all opinions ( especially those with multiple reasonings ) you can either agree or disagree with them. My only disagreement with Mr. Massie's various statements was his comparative examples using Emperor Nero. For what Mr. Massie was trying to relay, Nero was actually a poor choice. History has already vindicated Emperor Nero for Rome's Great Fire, and records also have proven that he did a lot more for his people than his predecessor Claudius or his mother Agrippina, especially after Rome was decimated by the fire. People should learn and understand their history before using certain figures to make a point ( check out my previous blog posted July 30, 2011 - It's About Time For A Historical Vindication ).
