Thanks CCT, I'm glad I have too and my kids are great, so all in all I'm blessed. Like they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Such a sad poem Con no wonder that many of your poems are disturbing. I am glad you have found a good husband. And I hope you can release the Genie from the bottle.

Don't we though Annicita...? It's a shame that some of those masks are or have been needed for survival. Thank you for your visit, comment, and isight. I feel we may have somethings in common......I could be wrong, of course, but you have an insight only someone who has survived could understand. Thank you my keyboard friend. I think you'll appreciate the one I post tomorrow morning.

Lol, yeah, I don't miss the old days so much FS. I explained a bit in my response to 2902. Wasn't much fun for me back then, but I'm still here to tell the story.

Re: Nice. Do you mean childhood notions can't survive the growth to adulthood?
Hi 2902, this poem was more about how it was when I was a kid. My mom was pretty abusive, and I learned to always put on a smile and make excuses for the bruises to teachers and the "outside" world. It was kinda funny really, the teachers would always comment on my report card what a pleasure I was to have in class and how I was always smiling. Nobody figured out that the smile glued to my face was a front. So "the lie beneath the truth" was what people saw vs. what was really going on and how I felt inside. Thanks for the read and comment. I always appreciate your time and enjoy your comments.
