Yeah, it's amazing what we can take for granted sometimes, even heat and air conditioning! It's a lot easier to appreciate what you have, when you recall going through tough times without! I've been there, but on a whole different world . . .

I'm loving the change to cooler, though we still have no rain and another pipe burst yesterday from shrinking dry earth (or something).  It took all day (again without water) but at least I took my shower before they they turned it off to dig.

Kabu

I can remember those sorts of days.  Thankfully not now. This summer and last winter were the strangest I remember. It is still very hot here. I love the photo showing some of your work. Be blessed.

I can't believe that I use to sit out and fry in the sun for a tan!! Now even the slightest heat has me running for water somewhere! Canada has really good temperatures, don't you think?

I remember those hot nights when I was little

we did have screens though so didn't have to fight misquitoes.

AC wasn't in every home here in beautiful downtown Mundane, either.

We made do with window fans to circulate the cooler night air, but I remember the summer of 1982 when it never got below 80 degrees from May-October. We had little fans we moved from room to room. I sold that house in '93 to a man who was an HVAC technician. First thing he did was install whole house air conditioning. The $1500 it would have cost at the time was far outside my budget. I wouldn't borrow the money, it was my upbringing to make do or do without and not buy anything that couldn't be paid for in 90 days or less. I do appreciate the luxury of central air these days!

Yes Kabu we had hot summers sometimes and Mother always made us go to bed at seven o'clock when we were small, she thought it would make us grow up healthy,

Of course we could not sleep and I remember keep turning the pillow over just to feel the coolness for a while, she had some strange ideas, but had been used to a large family, kind of in charge when she was eleven Dad killed in the war and the mother worn out with worry and child rearing, she was not used to such a life having been the only child of well off parents.
