Re:
Hi CCT, unfortunately I was only 8 and didn't have a lock on my door. My parents were having an new years eve party and the man was able to slip in my room, luckily he was scared off by the noises in the hallway and left before he had a chance to do anything, It was pretty traumatic for me though. Thank you again for the visit, read, and comment. I appreciate the support.

Re: the door closed
Wow, thank you 2902! I'm honored to even be mentioned in the same sentence as Edgar Allen Poe. The sad truth is that this poem was inspired by a true event. It happened when I was about 8. Luckily, the man was scared by the noises in the hallway and left before he could do anything. It was pretty scary though. As always I thank you for the visit, read, and comment.

I think the answer would be to lock the door very creepy but compulsive.

Good work! Full of the kinds of detail that make you shiver! Edgar Allen Poe would have LOVED this!
