I guess, like anything else, it's amatter of balance. Perhaps you might want to look into anything that may sap the body of potasium, making it difficult to replenish it. Otherwise, it sounds like you have a pretty good diet.

I don't think a potato by itself is that many calories, it more what is put on the potato that makes it high in calories! But, I am from the potato state and it would be un-Idahoan to think otherwise! LOL! sam

Re:

I do eat a lot of bananas, potatoes, watermelon, cantaloupe, and tomatoes that have a lot of potassium, none of that has had any effect. Mine is naturally too low and I need supplements. I hate taking them they are like cow pills, I do but not enough. I will after this. Thanks for the comment.

I am not doctor but I bet you would like bananas better and they have other things in them that are good for you, a old friend of mine was in the hospital for low potassium and there are some drinks that have potassium in them.

I think they check for what they are looking for only usually. I am often given a wide range of tests when I get the lab work because they are looking for a group of things I have been dealing with for some time. Just ask if you suspect anything unusual.

Yes I did not know until then that you die, just like that, from either too high or too low. I think there are extreme warnings before it gets to that point. When it gets so low you grope to think reasonably. I was not thinking about potassium I was thinking when will I get some energy?

Wow - I earn something everyday on this site! I remember the story about the lab technician's answer - It was as straight as you can get, and I guess that's good. I love potatoes!!!

I suffer from bouts of fatigue but have never equated it to potential low potassium. I have blood test fairly regularly so I’m sure they would have picked up on that by now but I’m going to make a point of mentioning it at my next Dr. visit (next week). (PS What a lovely comment you left on my blog. It made me blush).

Naut and Kabu

Yes banana, cantaloupe, watermellon and tons of other things, which we eat daily. They told me dependance on bananas for me would mean 40 bananas per day. I do eat all these things listed above almost daily. That does no do it. I will listen, it is a bummer.

we have banana most days but me...apart from a few aches and pains

from hard work on the back and neck, I am really fit....emotionally...ah well we can't have it all but my happy pill helps there. Love you and am relieved that you discovered the problem. Trouble with potassium depletion, it is difficult to think straight and remember what the trouble is.

Bananas will also give you a lot of potassium! And in this hot weather a banana milkshake (made with lots of ice and skim milk, of course, and maybe with some strawberries as well) will taste much better than a tater...
