Most of my relatives earning middle class wages have seen a reduction in their payroll taxes; part of the stimulus program to encourage spending I believe...And here in Indiana unemployment benefits are taxed. As for food stamps, well I certainly don't want innocent children, the elderly and those who are unable to make enough money to live on- no matter how hard they work- to go hungry. What would Jesus do, I wonder? Let the poor starve whilst the bloated corporations and wealthy-beyond-our-comprehension see their material worth climb to astronomical heights, thanks to tax payer subsidies, tax shelters, continuing tax cuts and relentless outsourcing to slave-labor countries? Even George W. Bush was unable to know his fellow citizens wouldn't eat without some help; the food stamp rolls actually increased during his time in office.

Re: adnohr

That is part of the problem. He is making unprecedented moves alone. He is inacting laws, going around laws and acting as if at the very edge of being a dictator.

I hear what you're saying, Justi, but not being an American, I don't know what to think. I imagine Obama isn't a one-man show - there has to be more than him making the decisions?

We need a change! We are in triple digits in my desert but thankfully we do not have to deal with high humidity! sam

You asked a lot of questions.  What do I think?  I think I don't have the answers.

Goodness Justi I have no clue how things have been for you. I can say though that things are getting pretty tough here. IT is sad though that some can abuse the system and live a better life by not working . There is an oldish guy in town he pushes a cart round emptying bins, he always looks cheerful, but one of his legs are twisted, he would probably be miserable sitting at home several more I know have new cars every  three years or so and never think of work. At least things are being tightened up over here, but the honest working people do not think much of the situation.

It is a call to arms so to speak. It will take all we have. We must do more than just post on Blogit. We must go door to door, make phone calls, write to the editors page, and wake up relatives...Then we must go to work and save our country.

Justi

If Obama is reelected, he can do as he pleases (within some constraints, of course) since he doesn't have to worry about the next election...
