You know, for the first time in nearly two years now, I saw a good-sized young turkey come out of the woods and fly across the road and go into the woods on the other side. I hadn't seen a wild turkey since Hulda disappeared.

The cycles of nature go on!! Nature can be both beautiful and rough. I have only encountered good from the crows, and will still like them although they can have a bad side. They might be better if they don't multiply too much anyway, although it is sad when a little family is broken up with violence.

You had me hooked with the opening line,
and all the way to the end. I happen to love crows, but they can be irritating as hell. Funny how attached we get to their stories, their daily battle for survival. We do feel a kinship -- and you filled this post with that connectedness.
Write on!!!

Very well done Kabu and I read with interest as I once watched as a pair of crows out smart an old dog for his dinner.

A great vignette of nature red in beak and claw! Now, if one could only teach hawks to eat peanuts, LOL...
