Amanda,
When I was a little girl, my friend Mert would read me "WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE" every time I went to her house to visit with her. It has always been one of my favourite books. Whenever I read it, I think of Mert and her former husband Charlie with great affection and love.
Did you know that there were two other books featuring the wild things? If you can find them, they are OUTSIDE OVER THERE, and IN THE NIGHT KITCHEN. I have as yet to find them, but I'll keep looking.
Rest in peace, Mr. Sendak. The world will be a little sadder without you.
