I've never heard of Easter Monday either! Am I missing anything?

Actually......

On my way to work each morning I drive by two Catholic schools.  Usually there is a backlog of traffic trying to get in to one or the other of these schools' driveways.  This morning, it was smooth sailing! No traffic, no students in their uniforms walking to school.  So I assumed the Catholic schools, at least, had the day off today as well.  (The public schools, on the other hand, seemed to have school as usual today.)

Easter Monday is an extra Holiday day,,Australia always

all my life has included the Monday in the Easter time holidays. hence it is known as Easter Monday purely because it is an added public holiday. It is nice because one gets 4 days.

I guess that's why we don't celebrate here.  What is Easter Monday?
