You're right one should not be so difficult toward politicians. We do have some scoundrels in politics in the US. I see politics almost like the clergy, if you are not clean you should never touch either of them. Yes I loved meal times and there was a level of respect going both ways with limits both ways that has been a mainstay for me all these years. Thank you so much for reading me.

Very enlightening Justi lovely piece of history, I almost felt felt sorry for Hootie, well almost. A pity more families do not have meal times and respect their parents.

I believe that eating as a family each day helps us to feel as though we belong, that we are an important part of the family, it gives children a feeling that they just can't get anywhere else. It is sad to know that many families seldom do this anymore.
I want to thank you for your kind thoughts today, they made me feel as though I belonged.

Well I hear you. Oh we had a corner on names. There were a lot of men named Jr. not something, jr, just Jr. I went to school with some of them.

I think there is a Hootie in any disctrict and sometimes in the National elections. We are in a Hootie administration presently.

Yes I think it taught me many things. One that all people have a right to their opinion but not a right to think it is always correct nor is it better than any other. It taught me both self respect and respect for others and their ideas as well.

Yes My mama knew the politicians and didn't mind giving her opinion on the whole thing granted she could do it gracefully.

It was good that you were able to express yourself at the dinner table for it gave you confidence and when you have to tell someone what is what it comes out much easier and with gusto! sam

I can just picture you as a little girl standing there putting that oily politician in his place, Justi. Bravo! Love these stories about your family. It's easy to see how that strong, loving foundation contributed to the fine lady you are today.
