Re: There's a new charitable appeal in each day's mail.
Pat it would probably be more economical for the charities, if they did the same method as they once once did. These days it seems like a lot of infighting, I suspect it is agencies trying to better each other and pull off results, it is pretty obvious if someone receives requests from a dozen different charities, the proceeds are going to be pretty thin on the ground.

Re:
LLM, thank you, I am trying to sort those out that I give to and pick the most worthy.
Probably it all goes through computers, but I may suggest that it is no use making rash promises and not keeping them.

Re: we are having to sift through who and what we give also dear generous
Kabu one would not mind so much, but there is this awful feeling that too much is being wasted on promotions and agents reselling. A new gimmick is trying to get one to make a will in favour. I know a lady who did this, she had a very nice setting in the cemetery not far from my family's grave. It had green granite stones it was the resting place for herself and husband. We had a little iron at that time because my mum like to plant flowers on my dad's grave. Sadly the green granite stones are gradually being scattered over the ground and stonework is crumbling. If only she had thought to to leave a proportion of her money for maintaining this, I don't think the beneficiaries ever even put a flower on the grave in secret language not nun.

To the first bit: If I felt like wasting the postage, I would clip out the part of their first letter to you where they tell you they will never write you again and send them that...
To the second bit: 10 seconds? If that really works, I can cut down considerably on the time I spend exercising...
And to the dialogue: Love it...

Twenty seconds three times a week doesn't sound too bad????
Where I live, there are three flights of stairs outside my door. When there doesn't seem to be people around that I might bump into, I go quickly up and down the stairs several times. You should see me puff and pant after just three minutes of that.

Well I did 30 minutes on the treadmill last evening and I hope to get back to doing it steady every day. I think rather like you about charity but I find they never leave you alone after you give once. I contribute to my church parish every month even though I don't go much anymore and that's nearly enough for me.

C.C.,
I am so sorry this is happening to you. If you don't mind, I would strongly suggest that you contact someone immediately about this-someone who could look into the situation for you.
If need be, contact these people themselves and TELL them to STOP sending these letters to you. If they ignore you, further action should be taken.
Having said this, may God bless you for at least trying to help those beautiful little ones who need it so much.

There's a new charitable appeal in each day's mail.
Feed the children, cure cancer, fight lung disease, support heart research, donate to the Red Cross, send ten dollars to support the Salvation Army, donate canned goods to the food bank, help the local animal shelter. All worthy causes. And they all share the names of those who give. It hardens the heart when so many hands are out, begging.
