Hi Ciel... thanks for thinking of me... perhaps the value is in being there with the man in my life, and not being a baby about it. He's had a lot to deal with himself and has been very patient with my fragilities over the past couple of years, so if letting my thoughts out gently in this forum helps me rationalise something, that's probably ok... smile.

even with passive cruelties, or mean little toxic comments. I would go out for fish and chips on my own, or round up some better company if alone doesn't work. I'd let the preacher take her out and 'witness.'

It's awkward to deal with people who are nice and want to help you but can't bring it off! And 'good witness' - is that the same thing that in some circles is called 'good karma'?

I think you did the right thing by going, too! At least it was pleasant enough if no spoken words qualify with the exception of the greeting and good-bye! You were very kind to be tolerant of those who mean well but can't always come through! sam
