Re:I hear you. My son and I used to wonder what a winter overnight
in the woods would be like - the evening would be very, very long before it was time to go to sleep. A portable TV could come in handy!

It can get scary out there Bob, and sometimes choices are really forced decisions, real or perceived. Loved the poem though, putting light on such seems somehow important in our time.

Re: Bob, this guy does sound like a bizzare, isolated hermit...
Exactly. The park police know about him by now. I still don't have a clear idea how he brought in provisions or how he spent his time.
Many years ago my son and I found a knocked-together cabin with a swing outside commanding a beautiful view. Inside were two blanketed bunks and a small potbelly stove - with the still warm remains of a fire! Could have been a local hunter's. The next time we went there, it was all gone except for the swing and the corrugated tin the guy used for the roof.

It does sound like there's more than homelessness involved, secrets best left with him...I'd avoid that area just to be on the safe side..

I don't know, CC. This is someone who has gone to great lengths
to be alone. He can't be just another homeless person. It's awfully far away from stores. I'm glad I came across his "nest" when he wasn't there. I didn't feel like sticking around to ask questions.
