My grandmother had a huge old wood-burning cookstove with section

for heating water, an oven, & top-stove burners.

We had a wood burning cook stove. Mama made the best

home made bread you can imagine. When I hit 14, chopping wood and kindling became my job. I kinda liked it, the pine pitch smelled good, even better when it burned.

Kabu...

It's a wonder the plant wasn't frozen, or maybe it was.

Hmmm...will speak to my daughter about Fed Ex's delivery method!!! Freezing rain here too, Kabu. I'll be making my stuffed Christmas breads after I finish working. A season where cooking smells wind and waft through the house...Love it!

Did you live near the the No. 1 Rabbit-proof Fence, also called the State Vermin Fence and the Emu Fence?  Maybe I've asked you about that before as it has interested me especially since I saw the movie a few years back.

What a lovely post. My favorite second mother a next door neighbor when I was a little girl had one of those beautiful wood stoves. It held treasures of 'brickle meat' a crisp bacon left from breakfast and large 'cat face biscuits' for us children after school. I have always wanted one... Too late now but the are the greatest, warmest welcoming homes had them. Have fun dearest baking that lovely cake.

I remember the wood cook stove from my youth at my grandmother's house! I can still smell the aroma! What fun to try out a new oven! I think I might be a bit hesitant before the results present themselves, too! But I believe you will be fine! I remember the trouble you were having with Dell, they drive me nuts! I aver when this one dies I am going with HP! lol It is Hewlett-Packard but I fondly refer to it as HELP PLEASE! lol I had heard you were having freezing rain in your area, I do not like that weather! So sorry on the plant! But I think FedEx is good about the ring and run, it happens here too! lol Have a fun day! sam
