This is how my sister is, except the cats stay outside, all but one. She keeps all of her important papers, and her precious things in three plastic grocery bags tied to her belt because she believes some one will steal them. She got a wrong phone call last spring by someone who speaks Spanish and had me come over to make sure there were no Mexicans living in her basement. I wrote a poem about her a few days ago, I love her, but I don't know what to do, she seems happy and I know it would break her heart to put her in a home of some sort. So I give her money and make sure she is OK, it is all I know to do.

Not ill? Not insane?

Apparently delusion and denial run in that family.  And does anyone truly believe that such a life is what cats want or deserve?

I hope someone gets their act together.

I could not let a relative get in that condition and keep it going.  Even on the animal shows, the relatives will stay with their loved ones to get counseling and move some of the animals on.  Her niece may mean well, but I do not think she is serving her aunt well to encourage that degree of animal hoarding and social isolation.

This is sad, maybe better than facing the damaging music but I could not go in just as you could not. Sad, sad.

It's too bad she let herself go, but it is her choice! We humans find out happiness in odd ways! sam

It's amazing how things can and do change.

Oh, that was so "in your face" I could almost breathe in the

floating cat hairs. I actually knew a woman whose situation was almost that bad. It seems creepy to most of us, but I can understand how a person would loose her faith in humanity and stick to the companionship of animals. Write on, Kabu!

Can't say I would fancy it, if I were the niece I would get the cats vaccinated and splayed. If there is any money a small catless room to sleep in apart from that who can condemn anyones choice of life.

yes, the poor woman is living in her own fantasy world...

Surely the neice or someone new in her life could help her; otherwise the wrong people (authorities) likely would eventually find out and take all her cats from her....

Surely the niece would be willing to compromise with Auntie &

at least see that some cleaning is done.

Kabuiepie-;)

That is an amazing write darling. The incidents with our children, and then Ian and Anna last night, really gave you focus. Reading this has also given me focus, and of course I was turning into that old lady myself after 8 years alone on my own before the magic of you coming into my life. We have each other, best of friends, and then we have all these Blogit friends that care about us and we about them. I am researching some of the psychology of not having close personal friends right here in town except one another, and it makes interesting reading. I love you and your love and friendship are all I need to sustain me, how about you lover
