That was too funny on your brother being born to wreck your happiness! I come from a large family and I always thought the last five were the burden! lol sam

Yes I thought as much. Someone would claim to be in this profession . You might be Mary had some little lambs, Could you climb a five barred gate or push your way through a thorn hedge, dear me I think not, A dairy maid I can imagine leading the bull by the nose,

Re:
Adnohr when that's all there is one goes for it. Re, ropes there was a rope factory opposite, I think it might have been quite comfy if the alternative was a wet floor. I would love to try it for an afternoon nap. The wedded rope was a double affair.

Brothers! I can remember my older son saying something about his happiness ending when his younger brother was born. Now they get along great...but in those days, it was fire and water and vying for Mom's loving attention!! Thanks for explaining about the rope but, that could NOT be comfortable?

Re: C C T
Wiley The ropes were stretched across a room about so high off the ground thick ones. Iron rings into the massive stone walls held them firm/ Tramps always wore big old coats
I expect they slept outside in clement weather Later a workhouse was built. It was simple really you just paid a penny and sprawled over the rope I suppose twenty or so in the room. There was a name for it but it eludes me at the moment. One would not catch fleas so easily and no need to show off your fancy underwear. Or change the bedding suitable also for the fair sex, It's making me itch.

Strange, my life changed for the worse when one of my older brothers closest to me in age was born, he's 80 now and I'm 75. Good thing he's still in Quebec and I left for Ontario. LOLGreat post you wrote old chap but I'm trying to understand about the tramps and hanging on the rope.

can bring a glow to a troubled soul....i don't understand the rope hanging over the shop for the tramps to earn a penny.....I had to disect organs as a student and study how they worked and record defects and disease. i will never eat offal. Have a warm Sunday evening and I do wish that I could try your cake.
