I guess that young lad was taking his frustration out on the snails - sad. Maybe you could talk Archie into bringing you chocolate instead of yogurt?

Re: and Taps, I have the coffee on...there must be some way to meet and sip

They retained a dignity Kabu Mum did not like young people calling her by her Christian name even when she was ill.

Re:

The lad was a bit simple but I saw him about thirty years later and he did not seem too bad and remembered my Dad who they called Friday Jack. Better in health than temper Sam but that's another story.

Re:

Well justi he is no relation but he behaves as though he is he started working for me when he was about twelve and now he has a bald head. He now runs his own milk round with his wife of 5 years, he was lucky to get her.

Who is this Archie person I keep sharing your posts with daily and I haven't been properly introduced? You did this so well. Your mother made me think of mine she often said... "I may be broke today but I shall never be poor a day in my life" Of if she could see me now!

It had to be tough for your parents to eke out a living during that period! I get yogurt that is close to expiration and I can't get it eaten either! We do what we can and call it good! Funny that Archie complains but he does it nonetheless. he probably likes doing it but would never let on for fear of giving himself up! lol I wonder if the doors will get on the cupboards by spring! I wonder if you shouldn't run a contest to see who can come closest to the date! The one who wants to win might get the gentleman to move quicker! Just a silly thought that entered my head! I wondered on the lad you mentioned first if he was a hungry youngster, it sure felt like it to me and that is so sad! It drives me nuts when kids go hungry! My heart breaks every time I see the kids from Africa so malnourished and starving to death! Are you feeling better today?  sam

CC. I love the way nothing would let your mother lower her standards....my Mother was like that.

After all that (which, by the way, I very much enjoyed reading) I think I will go make me a pot of tea.  On a chilly, cloudy day like today, I think it just might warm me inside and out.
