I think anything we can do for ourselves to save money is worth it so I cut my own nails, too! I can't believe how this is going on with the cupboard doors, whatever could be the matter with the fellow, doesn't he take pride in finishing what he started, appears not to be so! I have the heater on in my den this morning, very early morning in the States because the chill was too much and I refuse to heat the whole house beyond 67F, and I am hoping I don't break the bank on that temp! It can get so costly in winter to heat the house! I try to keep it around $50 per month! Unless the kids come by for an entended period of time I can make my goal, but if they come I just turn it up so I don't have to listen to: "I'm cold!" lol I finally got to talk to Christopher today and he said there wasn't much going on over there! It seems the fighting slows down tremendously in fall and winter. He said he should be leaving Afghanistan on the 20th of January and be back to his state side base for his homecoming by January 27! It will be so wonderful when he is out of there! It has been a lot easier to deal with than I had originally thought! I suspect the apprehension took center stage though! He took three duffle bags with him, a huge backpack then a smaller backpack per the direction of the Gov't! Now they are telling him he has to send things home because he can only take his backpacks and one duffle bag with him! I said the Gov't is holding him hostage by making him pay to get out of there, lol! It is expensive though at 50 cent a pound to ship possessions home! I just said bite the bullet and send them and forget it! It's like he has to pay to get out of there! I rounded up everyone in the family and told them the last package goes out on the 30th of this month and for them to please find a small Christmas item to help him through the holidays! O, CC, I can't believe I am down to the last package, it is getting over with one item at a time these days! He should get his package today that I sent for November! His girlfriend has been very good about sending him packages, too! I just want January to get here! sam

This is a good folksy post. You sound like me and the oven. Can't eat better than boiled cabbage and butter anyway. I need a big slab of Pumpernickle Bread with it.

I have always cut my own toenails.
I've only been to a podiatrist once and that was after I had an accident on the treadmill and broke my big toe and it caused that toenail to go crazy and grow sideways into my toe flesh. It was quite painful and I couldn't take care of it myself. But it has been fine since the Doc worked her magic on it.
