With the real trouble we are in who can tell what may happen to our dollar. I do look for it being replaced as the world currency which would play havoc with our economy...Great post.

FSI, we have dollar coins and two dollar coins here in Canada...

And I haven't seen anyone bent over with the weight of his coins yet...you do get used to them....

errata
This time, let's go backward in time, that is, 29th century should read 20th century.

TY Dollar stores make the bill look cheap but it still buys some good looking goods. They do this better than the 29th century five and ten that offered extremes in prices (They should have thought of it). That is, if you’re not a collector of authentic pieces for the shelf. The silver and golden dollar coins go back in recent history even in your lifetime. I’d like them to keep both. What’s needed is for retailers to accept both. That is, publicity’s needed to make them acceptable. New Jersey Transit ticket machines gives change in gold coins. Their operators and fare meters accept them. That’s my bottom line. In other words dollar coins should be accepted more widely. By George the bill’s meaningful to capitalism. BC-A Bill”s R®st

I hope it does not become a law! I could actually see a coin for a larger bill, especially 20's that seem to be counterfeited so frequently! A coin that serves a real purpose would make the most sense to me. I believe you are correct in your thoughts on the penny! sam

I agree about the penny going first; surprises me that they are still
in use. Very interesting post, FSI. I don't want scads of heavy coinage; paper is much easier. Good thing you are aware of this and have time to prepare for a change of change if necessary..:)

Well if we are anything to go by and I can remember a farthing as a quarter of a penny,

WE have a 5p which is practically worthless, I throw all change into my plastic bag and grab a handful when I want to pay a small sum and offer it to the counter assistant, The lowest paper is a five pound a dirty little note. Once an old dealer used to quote half a dollar as half a crown which used to be worth 30 old pennies. We are now going to get fifty pound notes.

You can be sure what ever happens it won't be worth as much.
