Re: That "scary part of town" IS a grabber, isn't it! I wish it
weren't mostly borrowed from a poem about the danger of re-visiting toxic memories without professional help
("...that's a dangerous neighborhood - don't go there alone." - Bob

So surreal! It reminds me of the once that was better left alone! Strikingly poignant! sam

Re: Jay, I think the REAL danger is saying, "Oh, shit! I screwed up.
What's the use!  I'll never get there!"  That's a copout, a free pass to doing anything you like.  The truth is that
you CAN keep beginning again.  We always counsel others: "Be patient with yourself!", and then forget to take the same advice ourselves.  We don't like/respect ourselves enough.  We don't want to believe we're really nice people worth knowing. - Bob

Re: Very cool stuff...
Yes!  When you really feel all alone, there's no experience to compare with it.  All rules are off because you're sure no one has written the book yet!  - Bob

Re: very scary!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it was F. Scott Fitzgerald who talked about 2 AM, the long dark night of the soul where everything can look like despair.  - Bob

Re: Thank you, Jay. My only experience with it was frequent failures in
dieting and giving up cigarettes.  - Bob

Re: Thanks, CC. I got the idea for the metaphor from a radio interview I
once heard - it was advice to someone who had very troubling memories, and it said "Don't go there alone" - i.e.
get a counselor. - Bob

I have learned through experience that just this once hurts the most Bob...Nice work.

I am afraid too many have said just this once Bob. It was concise and cute.
