thanks for all the comments and interest...I thought it was something new
different to learn.....One knows the stories of the salmon the the turtle etc but this was different. Even the lowly eel has amazing instincts and courage.

That is very interesting Kabu, but you should have seen some of the obstacles I had to cross just to mate when I was a boy, and yes...sometimes even in deep water.

Very interesting, Dear Kabu!

Anything that slithers to move is automatically not on my favorite list, lol.

It would be a sight to see them navigate the dam! Almost eerie thinking about it, too! sam

They are fascinating creatures...They also make good bait for striped bass (rockfish).

Interesting Kabu it would have been nice if a stream had been constructed to help them on their way. I suppose it could have run underground. Do you eat many jellied eels I tried them once, but I think they are an acquired delicacy for texture.

Astonishing travel for once-in-a-lifetime eel-spawning which
produced millions of eggs! (hope they had visas.

Very interesting post
We used to live near Ely in Cambridgeshire which took its name from the populous eels in the nearby rivers
