Heat is such a frightening expense! I end up heating the whole house but I use every room except the guest bedroom! Last year I heated the house to 65F and it was too cold, this year I am experimenting with 67F. So, far it is comfortable but I have not had it this way for a month! If it is too high I will just grab a blanket and tough it out! I do not like to give my money to the utilities! The water company harps for everyone to conserve, so we did in the valley and then they want to increase the rates due to lack of usage! What the heck, can't win for losing it seems! sam

Re:
No one has to go for standard sizes FS. especially in trousers. Either too long or too short and always too tight around the tummy for most, but I note a lot of elastic waist ones are creeping in.

Re: CCT
It is the damp cold that gets you Wiley, I can't remember much central heating until 1970 paraffin was dead cheap. The opposite today keep your shirt on.

Re: Creative and informative writing, CC!RAY

Well Raye I think we were tougher or wore more clothes, I can't quite put a marker on it.

Maybe we expected to feel cold in winter and ignored it, as a lady told me the other day.(When we got wet, we had to keep our clothes on because we did not have any spares.)

Re: SHOBANA

Hush Chopin David is Arthur, I didn't want the little wretch suing me for libel.

Well I know you would not think that I was cheeky it is just tension communicating with such intriguing ladies.

Ha..ha..you are cute CC. Jim probably had a good reason for not sounding the horn CC, he probably thought the whole trip would be less noisy given that you dad had his eye on the road and his driving. Thank God your vest did not get burned and for God's sake give Arthur a break - he is cooking for you ain't he?and how is David doing these days and who says you are insulting - not me..

Creative and informative writing, CC!
The good ol' days returning it seems..well, I vaguely remember space heaters in some of the old houses my parents would buy. Mostly though, I recall my Grandmother's heavy, homemade quilts keeping us warm on the coldest nights of winter. And her knitted, lined footies, so toasty for little feet, ahh..:)

CCT
I learned about how cold it got there in the 50's staying with my aunt in Flixton, Nr. Manchester. I woke up in the middle of the night and didn't know how it got so cold. Maybe the furnace ran out of coal, I thought I was back in Canada.LOL Hope that wood was warm!

those frog sausages sound revolting...LOL.....goodness that trip
with the Caravan sounds miserable....we only ever had the combustion stove burning in the kitchen when I was a kid. The rest of the house was freezing and my bed was always damp and cold. Well yes....I was a bed wetter!

I myself had trouble finding trash bags. They were all too small or too large. It feels to me that no one's catering to the middle.
