well I was a cashier and the only thing we were forced to offer was the darn credit card of theirs, that most people were offended with being asked that every time they shopped.

We have a two for one cookie sale on now and the sales person who sales the most cookies gets a $25.00 gift card...of course working graveyard shift I sell more beer than cookies, but I don't suppose they will give me a card for that real soon.

Well it is human nature I suppose Justi. I remember during the war years one felt the need to bow and scrape to shop assistants as they held the power to bestow or with hold goodies.
Now it is the reverse coin sales are King it is almost embarrassing to be greeted with such a friendly attitude. When one's job is on the line you don't kick the customer. Enjoy while you can, it would soon reverse if ever we got out of this mess.

Speaking of "little treats", I must get some for Phil. I'm all out and I love always having something for him whenever I see him. I guess that is a grandma for you.

Hmm - I never thought of it as being a sales pitch. I have always encouraged employees to smile and chat with customers - not to sell, but just to make the visit to our office a pleasant thing. I can see your point though. Still, they went a littl overboard, but it's better than having a scowling cashier!

My SIL works in a major retail store and they are prompted to push products of one sort or another and job security rests solely on generated sales of the given product(s)! She does not get a cut by any means! It seems at every turn we are prompted to purchase something, much of it unneeded as well! sam
