Pat B mentioned the Peace rose and I remember my mothers peace rose. I didn't know about the scent thing as my roses down here still have plenty of scent. My big red rose is right by the front door and we can smell it when we go out when it is in bloom. There is nothing quite as sweet as the scent of a rose...that is for sure Kabu..

Your entire personality and of course, of Sir Wiley's, exude the fragrance of ROSE. We are lucky to have the ambiance of the two gracefully perfumed people.

Reminded me of that saying, "a rose by any name would smell as sweet"

Oh you just took me back to spring, mama's house and childhood all in one swoop. A really beautiful smelling rose is an unforgettable thing. I don't care for rose candles, perfume etc., just the real deal as you said. I still have two old ones that smell wonderful.

Mama had lots of them in her garden, her favorite was the Peace Rose,
a soft peachy colored petal on top with dark velvety rose on the underside. It smelled heavenly and hers always looked like the ones on the cover of a greenhouse catalog. Love your haiku!

We have had some lovely roses
in our various gardens since we've been married. I truly adore them as they remind me always of my wife

Kabu the stores get the wind up when the rose begins to fade and cut the price dramatically I will post a yellow one that I bought last week, tomorrow. If you spot one put it into a larger pot with a bit of decent compost not too large pot about 7inches across. Stick outside until the frost comes, and then cut it two thirds down as long as it is not too cold keep it in your sunhouse I shall leave mine outside and throw fleece over them if it is bad as last Winter. Next year you will have normal size roses on the small plant. Don't bring it indoors thinking it will flower in the winter, it will give up the ghost. I might even get another tomorrow at half price. The scent is a problem I am desperate to find some scented carnations and have bought a few real old fashioned ones to try. Congratulations on your Haiku I am like Wiley I keep thinking of fish. I wish I could remember years ago I read about a Japanese POW. Who wrote poetry and the camp commandant befriended him and showed him a Haiku he had written I could not see the significance of it at the time but wish I could remember it now.

Roses are my favourite flower too, Grandmummy. I do like red roses, but pink and white are my favourite colours. As is yellow, for my Grandpa who was born in Texas. I hope you can find the perfect miniature bush for you!
