I am glad all their hard work paid off in the end; sorry the girls were left out.  It looks like this is here now again in all too many cases.

This was a wonderful story Kabu, but I am afraid we are watching as history rears its ugly head and repeats itself. We are even beginning to hear such ugly speech against the Jews again...it scars me so.

The economy effects us in so many different ways. This post reminds me of that.

Great post.  If you didn't write about Australia now and then, my knowledge of it, and life there, and its history, would be sorely lacking.

Wow, that sounds like some tricky family history

Kept me smiling the whole time picturing you writing this Kabu.

You are such a story teller. I love your stories. Tell us more. There is always love, heartache, wealth and some poverty all the stuff life is made of. xoxoxoxoxo

Well, I am thinking to give a short synopsis from the beginning, hoping it then becomes easy to grasp.

Great to learn about those days of the Great Depression followed by WWII which turned all upside down, and your dad did well under the circumstances. Good writing. Australia is one of my favorite countries and the cricketers, the're marvelous.

Kabuiepie-;)
A great post love that raised my hackles. You're dad had a lot of self-control in that situation. If that had happened to me I would have given out a contract to Tony in Montréal on my 2 brothers. LOL

Can't beat history for a good story. Grandma was a formidable lady! I can imagine the         younger lads were quite put out with their older brothers! Fascinating, Kabu. Some more, please?

I agree with Troosha...what determination, and what a saga

Kabu
Sounds like your Grandmother was very instrumental in getting the family to rally together and once done, sounds like one determined family.

It is ironic but things move much faster during a war here grain was in demand like never before. Folk stared to dig for victory and fortunes were made overnight. What an acreage though Kabu most kept families here on 1to 200 acres
