So your brother wanted one up on you, did he - and hit his head first? LMAO!!! My Irish grandad used to make booze on the farm...with dandelions & some kind of wild grapes - not quite sure - I was too young to be all that curious about it. Good one for bringing the house price down!!

Re:
Well Lion I once had about thirty I gallon jars of homemade, Grapefruit was a favorite because it was sweet. I gave it all away eventually and the cellar I dug beneath my store shed is empty. I now usually buy Californian Merlot as I find it is slightly more mellow than most, of course it is medicinal purposes.

I have never tried making my own alcohol, I think it's because I lack the facilities to make a truly fine wine

Re: C.C...your brother had the distillation process down pat...
Yes great Rumor we did not believe in waiting too long. It is like a lot of folk  who made home made wine they drank it before it had finished working.

Re:

Shobana he was a research scientist a Mensa man Oxford, college etc. When he wanted to buy a house near here he read every available book on buying houses , He said to me I am going to buy that house today it was new and the agent was on the properties. I said don't pay the upfront price. He said I have read all the books one cannot buy a house any cheaper when an agent is on the property. Is that so I said I'll just go and ask the young lady. 'What is the bottom line on this property?" " Are you a buyer.' " Definitely if the price is right,' I got him  8K knocked off a 150K house.

C.C...your brother had the distillation process down pat...
At Walkers Distillery where I worked for 26 years (mostly in accounting), I got to act as tour guide occasionally, and while in the distillery, explained to our guests the distillation process....we just put the mash through the process repeatedly to bring out its best (then, six years of maturing in a barrel)...your brother would have enjoyed the tour, I'm sure....(free drinks at the end of it)....
