You seem to have brought alive my fancy for gardening.

You are not old! I agree with you. nothing like feeling the dirt between your fingers and enjoying the satisfaction and beauty of your labor.

I can relate, not so much to the garden for what plants I have are very small compared to yours, but being able to make things yours and me too I have been really tired, is something going around we dont know about?

You deserve to be in that special place you are now, Kabu! And wise you are to so fully enjoy it!

what's the rush?  Do things at your own speed and enjoy them

It's nice to work leisurely and love every moment of it! The BL was at the
ballet and fell on her arse.

Gardens
Me too, I'm growing things I never grew before. Carrots! wondeful.  It has been a great year for harvests up here in Nottingham, St Ann's. I love to read about your garden

I love to hear gentle rain...and the accompanying fresh smells  Glad you find enjoyment in your garden...they do say it is very therapeutic

Kabu, I've been in and out all day, too....
A friend from our church has been helping me get a lot of odd jobs done, which is great...It wasn't too hot or humid today, so that helped.....

Your plantings remind me so much of those my mom used to do --
she had a green thumb and an artist's eye, which I'm sure I didn't fully appreciate when I was a kid. I seem to have the opposite effect on flowers, and things don't like the light in this house, so house plants don't even thrive no matter how faithful I am with water and fertilizer. Your garden should have a small signpost and a sign that reads "Vicarious Blogit Botanicals."

Your last line reminds me of TV Detective Columbo's parting thought when he
questioned a suspect: "Oh, and one more thing..."

OH, dear Kabu I feel such a fool I had my delivery of crocus about a month ago and after planting the bulbs in a slightly raised bed I covered them with a net and forgot to water them, I dug one up they are shooting but I cannot see them making saffron this year.

Never mind though I did read that one has to harvest the petals early each morning so perhaps next Autumn. Do you know what saffron is? It is used to flavour lots of special things and once there were A kind of Bank where saffron growers could place their crop in jars. It was and still is expensive I had some in a loaf of bread and couldn't taste any difference, not for peasants obviously.

I think it would be wonderful to walk or sit in your garden.

I've always viewed gardening as a form of meditation (it's not meant to be done at high speed).  For many, it's a way in which to commune with God.  How wonderful that you find yourself in a time and place in your life when you can enjoy it so much.

YOu are such a sweet soul Kabu... and with every seed you plant... every old rock you move you leave something of yourself behind... I bet you that a thousand years from now, someone will walk down your garden and feel your presence there in a wave of love and goodness... I admire you so much in yourcapacity to give of yourself... :-)  xoxoxo
