Yes it was like when I had a poultry farm I was built all around and then criticized for being there.

When I read about the factory it reminded me of what people will tolerate or did tolerate to have a job. In my town there was a tanning factory, and although it was not noisy it had a fowl odor and the same with another town where they made cheese, very, very fowl odor! And both communities it was the largest employer as I would think the noisy factory was. sam

The same sort of thing happened with the children on our street, but after some older folks, about our age I suppose, move out and some young families moved in it all changed and now grandson has friends to get into trouble with as our neighborhood is filled with horses and all sorts of beasts and farm machinery, but they have a great time. I am enjoying this post of yours much CC..

Your ending statement makes me wonder what the children of today will have to write about tomorrow....."The day I topped the points in the Video WarGames" ?  I'm really enjoying these posts!

i think we were luckier. we made our own fun and ran around skinning

noses and knees and breathing real air and eating real food.

how awful to realize that children don't play or relax or use their imagination any more.
