A surprising event !! Earthquakes are almost foreign to the East coast area. Then along comes Irene. What next?

Wow! I have been in some earthquakes in Mexico (one was a 5.) and it was something else. Another time we had after-shocks every day for a month and it sounded like thunder. They were very small and you could hardly feel them. Everyone was up-tight waiting for a big one. I'm glad there were no serious problems from this one.

I was asleep when it happened here..
though I really doubt I would have felt it anyway.. I don't think too many people in this area did.

I am with your Mom! I have been in a very minor earthquake and like you stopped talking about shortly thereafter! The hurricane would have worried me a lot more! It's good to read that all is fine with your circle of family and friends! sam

Quite a number of catastrophes have been occuring lately FSI and we are positioned where we only feel minor tremors sometimes..so I guess we have to be thankful for that. Glad all of you are fine though.

Yes - lately the earth seems to be making us sit up and take notice! One of nature's episodes after the other. Glad your area is ok, FSI - and how was it through the hurricane?

I remember a earth quake when I was boy, I was laying in bed dreading to get up and ready for school when it happened. I remember watching a crack run across my ceiling and became excited with the thought that there might not be school this day, but no luck, Ma got me up and off I went...good post FSI.

well being a californian for now anyway, we get use to them, but I think I either dreamed there was one last night or there really was. But one thing about Facebook, the people are more informative then the news sometimes. Glad all is well with you and your family

Yes it could have been nasty people have short memories FS this Earth is unstable at times look back in history, but if we worried about it nothing would ever be achieved.
