What are Lamingtons Kabu. I expect you rather enjoyed the party, I can't remember if we had parties, so probably not might have had a cake and jelly.

Wonderful memories, Dear Kabu!
We always had birthday lunches or sometimes dinners; mostly family affairs. I do remember pleading for a Valentine Party for friends when I was around 8 or 9; already a romantic, lol. I got my wish and several children were invited and attended. We had pink iced cupcakes, baked by my Dear Ma and red punch and the boys were soon bored and up to mischief, haha. Nowadays parents spend small fortunes on birthday parties, even for one year olds!

Nice post!

What a vivid memory you have. I sympathize with your mother, and commend you for taking the cancellations so well.

Oh I had birthdays. Those were for my mama. She planned, cooked and I showed up in what she chose for me to wear and played what she had planned. It was a fright. Once I had a party in an eveing dress, everything done up as if the Queen were coming and the boys showed up in jeans as they should. There was live music and a spot of insanity that even small children can spot. I loved yours and your play mates response so what? You are a lovely person. I am sure the little boy loved your contrabution to this party.

I will never forget ten; it was the year President Kennedy was assassinated and I moved from Michigan to Idaho! We had just moved into our new house in May and by August I was in a town 15 times the size of the one I left! What an age to pick for me! And like you, I had one birthday party growing up and that one I shared with an older brother born in May, too! The good ole days, lol sam

Kabu, I can vaguely remember being ten....
but then it was "I can't wait til I hit 13" and become a teenager..

..my favorite kind of cake was always with caramel icing..

It was really nice of the little boy's parents to invite you and Poppy to his birthday party. I hope he had a fantastic birthday. From the sounds of things, he did!

Kabu, I only had one party just like your sister, but you lived so close to school. This was a wonderful post for me to read, and I tried to remember when I was ten, but I suppose I lost that with the stroke as well.
