How many apple pips does it take to poison a person?  Grandson Phil always eats core and all when he eats an apple.  I know they contain cyanide but they don't seem to hurt him.

I really enjoyed your post, kind of homey and I really appreciate the caution of eating apple pips. I've never eaten them, of course mum warned us about that.

The trouble is Justi my brother usually calls in to do the cooking so I have to cut three lettuce if there is a slug in one he throws it out even if it is a tiny baby one. I have been pondering over this, we usually have our lettuce lightly cooked instead of cabbage in the summer because of caterpillars. Although I have plenty of stick beans at the present.

You are correct about the apple pips or seeds. It takes fewer of them to be dangerous if you toast them be careful. I don't eat them at all with the exception of those that are missed in salads or some such. This is an interesting post. I always put salt in a cold soaking bowl to see that any uglies or any sort come out. Then I rinse them carefully in cold pure water. I leave them for a fair amount of time in the salt water, do this to greens as well.

Thank you Sam it ran across the page and I know people hate that so I just cut it in half I must try it differently I don't want it to be like a poem.

Hi Jay I was trying to do a journal this is not poetry just things that happen day to day it is a lazy way of writing but different cultures have slight differences. Perhaps you would call them seeds or pits.
