What fantastic memories. I has always been submersion and pools for me, cool water if I could have it! I pray for Texas to get relief from the droughts and extreme heat. Us too with the heat.

I'm 61 years old and still do this when ever I get the chance, run through the sprinklers and riding the grocery carts are great fun for me and as long as I'm able I'm going to do these things and fun while I can.

me personally loved the sprinkler, my kids always had those plastic pools then we bought one of the yard size pools until it sprung a leak.

Yes, the sprinkler time seems to be magical for kids! My daughter and her cousins loved it, as do my grandchildren now. The squeals and giggles of today remind me of a happier time when their mother was a child.

Summer days at the swimmin' hole were the best of times,
and taking the kids to the municipal pool was great, too. But you're right. Leaping through a sprinkler is a kind of magic.

A nice jaunt down memory lane with the kids and the sprinklers, Kabu. My little guys loved it too, and do the grandkids. The yells and the giggles...love it!

I agree, they are having a time of it! We are hot and dry and into our fire season! We had a storm come through that sparked 30 wildfires but it was contained rather quickly! As far as the mowing goes I have read where one should not mow the grass if they do not have to in hot weather, and if one must they should cut the least amount off as possible! sam

Great post
We would set up the sprinkler and run through it. Then my Mom started buying season pool passes and we spent everyday of summer at the pool.

I get a cup and lean over the tub
and dump cold water on my head, my arms, rinse my face (many times, just undress and jump in the cold shower). The tub water is much colder than any other water in the house, and I love it!
I just wish it did some good for more than about a minute and a half.

Oh I can just see your little blond Aussies having a very good time. Mine chased one another with a water hose and played in the sprinkler so much. Such little giggles as do come back. Oh what joy little ones are!

Great post full of memories love. And, uh, "I may run the well dry and Wiley would be disappointed if that happened." disappointed? Well instead of you digging our gold mine I'll just switch ya over to digging the new well.

When I was a kid, mother had one of those galvinized tubs on wheels that she used for rinsing the clothes from the ringer washing machine. She would sit it out in the back yard and fill it with cold water and give us each little tin cups to fill and throw at each other. Can you believe that we didn't even have plastic in those days so we could squirt each other?

Same here with the water slide! ...after first time the kids used it, I rolled it up and disposed of it fast. You've triggered water-fun memories here. 80% chance of rain here in N. Michigan in a couple of days. Maybe you'll get some, too.

I remember
running through my father's sprinkler when he was watering the garden; how bold and brave I thought I was at the time, but was really just wet...

Kabu..lol...sorry about that..Mother Nature has been steering
the rain our way but missing you up north...well, there is a big change in the weather next week from advanced forecasts we've heard - a major cold fron is supposed to be coming through and hopefully in addition to cooling things down, it will bring lots of rain to the whole province.
...
ah yes, I agree with you about good old fashioned sprinkler fun...I used to get ambushed by my daughters when they were kids...I'd get changed after work and, uh oh, someone would be waiting for me outside with a hose or a bucket.

HI Kabu Can't you save some rainwater in tubs I save it in dustbins. Don't use a big one a man tried to clean his out and fell in and couldn't get out again. Out Tap water is quite warm at present I am on a metre goodness three days running I have forgotten to turn the tap off. It looks like rain again here.
