An awful lot of brandishing going on there.  I've brandished a poker in the past myself, but I had to do some major searching to find out what that other brandisher was flaunting.  A bradawl with an extra-long blade could turn into a wicked weapon in a murder mystery.

I could so relate to the part where he offered tea believing she would not accept, but she did! I have had that happen more than once myself! This is a good and enjoyable read! The characters have great personalities and that makes them seem so real! BRAVO!! sam
