I hope and pray your protest goes in your favor. Not the best way to encourage new citizens to come!! Govt's are likely scrambling for money these days and look for any loophole to get some.

Those are such cute pictures!
I hope they reverse the decision. It really isn't fair, being that they didn't pay your medical expenses, etc. like you said.
I read your other post, and I don't think you were feeling sorry for yourself at all, but expecting to be treated fairly, like everyone.
Unfortunately, our governments love to take all that they can from us. I hope that this one works out in your favor.

After all they put you through to become a citizen I find it insulting that they would make such a consideration this late in the game so to speak! I hope you beat them for they do not deserve on single cent of your money! I would fight them to the bitter end! sam

Here is to hoping that there is a speedy resolution to all of this. It's ashame all of the hassles that can be thrust upon us.

Governments are somewhat parasitic in nature and like any good leach they will try to suck out all the blood they can

Do they have tax attorneys in Canada?
If it were me, I'd rather pay the attorney than the lazy, careless bureacrats who let the details fuzz up their thinking.

I am so jealous of your lovely garden. Government, bad word.
I was asked about paying back taxes and thought about blood out of a dying turnip, but laughed instead. There truly is no relief from silly government and its greedy ways.........but fighting it, tho' frustrating , does keep everyone busy.
Around here this year I have been damned for not working and then damned for working, so I just cross my eyes when people ask me about money. Money? What's that? Never had any. Don't know what it looks like up close.
This too shall pass. Isn't there an old people's helpful organization which aids in this kind of thing? We have some around here for us old folks who are put upon and beaten up by regulations and silliness.

You have got to fight this one Kabu . I have found sometimes direct voice contact sometimes resolves the problem. Wiley seems to have been successful in the past so don't worry about it too much. You have made a lovely garden it is a credit to you.

Your garden is so very lovely, and you have arranged the pictures of your flowers on this post in such an appealing way. I think you should send some of your pretty garden pictures along with your forms and appeals to the government agency causing you problems, so that they can see what an asset you are to their country and how hard you are working to be a model citizen.

i was told
that when something comes up with your taxes, always get a tax advocate to help you get it sorted out. This lady works for IRS and she said never try to get thru it alone and you can get an advocate at the tax office. Maybe she / he could help you get it straightened out. The advocates work with you to get the debt lowered or in some circumstances completely taken care of. give Wiley a hug for me, he is supposed to give you one from me too !!! luv ya, jesse

Stop worrying about the tax department love, it will work out and it's not like you're alone to pay it, this is called marriage. Stick with writing beautiful posts like this and have confidence in my ability to whine real loudly with letters to everybody.

Well that's no fun - dealing with CRA can be a horror show. But you have Wiley in your corner and perhaps between the two of you, you can achieve a favourable outcome. Sorry to hear about the big, brown envelope.

Dear dear Kabu as much trouble as you had just getting them to give you peace of mind about being a citizen I cannot believe they are doing this. I think Azure has a point, you must drag this out until they give up... It is not right. Sorry dear one.

I would draw them out in a long and protracted
correspondence making them have to go back and work through all details. I know the impulse is to strangle but as you know from the visa episode it's a long game. I think we forget that most things in life are not tied in neat bows.
It is also part of the sh*t happens department and in that department very little is ever finalised. It's also a process so try to treat it as such rather than an emotional thing. Save emotion for art and love.

How frustrating, Kabu. I'm sure that the government hounds everyone as it does here, but the wheels of justice grind slowly. You seem to have a good case - hopefully the powers that be will see it that way.....Mal

Stunning garden, Dear Kabu!
As for the other, ah,
bah humbug Governments Everywhere!
There, did they go away yet..:)
Is incredibly unfair and I can't believe it won't be resolved completely absolving you of any payment, as it should be. I'll be praying lots too!
