I agree that these computers of Dell should be simpler love. Great post.

Computers are terrific and frustrating at the same time. My computer has enabled me to be more independent.

Late as always these day, but your tale reminds me that I have a couple of old computers sitting in the basement, and on one of my several agendas there is a not to myself to go in and get out what I want to keep - but I haven't got a round twit yet...

You can get the shop to install it all for you Kabu. Just tell them you don't understand and can they install it all for you if you buy from them and they say yes of course usually and just do it. You just have to give them the information they need and sometimes they don't even need any.
This was an interesting post about your past computers - very enjoyable. :)

Fortunately my husband is a techno freak and buys all the very latest that Mac has to offer. I, in turn, get his hand-me-downs and he sets it up so it looks and acts just like my previous computer. What a sweetie not to mention his obsession has served me well.

And I was just beginning to resolve myself to letting Dell run over me and give up on backing anything up or holding them to any of their guarantees because I have lost patience talking with them or returning the ridiculous contraptions they have sent me to fix things when I am not a technician. They did get me a pretty green bamboo screen and this one runs better than the last at least. Irresponsible, maybe or maybe I am just overloaded with fixing. I hope you did better. I should have ordered another model!!

Kabu, we are getting a rainstorm here today....
I'm sure its the same storm you're getting in the form of snow.
You're so right about new computers. I like this new one we have, but I don't like it. Its slow at times and stalls out. We get a window that opens saying "Disable Add-ons for quicker start and less stalling". Well why not wait and let us choose what add-ons we wanted instead of assuming and doing it for us?
Its easier to buy a new car.

Winter does not want to go, I see...Computer hassles drive me bonkers. I've been blessed when it comes to that stuff over the last few years.

Is that vow to never buy another computer, never, ever
like the one we make when we wake up with a hangover so bad death would be an improvement and we say never again... (till next time). I mean, that bright monitor, those magic bits and bytes, letters and photos appearing before our eyes... addictive. :)

Yep - and what would we do without our computers now? And the Internet? And the printers, and adobe, etc. etc. etc.? I've done withdrawal...it's a terrible thing!
(And your post is NOT boring, as I saw you comment somewhere...)

My daughter when she was in college brought the first computer in our house and then I got curios and bought one for my daughter and she never used it so I started to use it. It was a Packard Bell, and at the time a very good computer. That was before we knew about Dell, which is way overrated.

I now use a Compac by HP and it is the best so far I have had.

My first computer was a used Mac Plus. I loved it. Don't know why I ever changed to a PC.
