Re:
Well Shobana the school master used to pinch the little girls arms in my Mum's day so I suppose it did improve a bit by bit.

Re: wonderful.....and in Australia attending a bush primary school, I think it
We used to sell knicker elastic Kabu and the old girls would stretch it and try different strengths they were all pretty weak in those days, but then they used to tie the skirts around their legs to stop the rats running up when threshing the corn. Yes we do historical memories on this blog.

This made me do a lot of thinking about my school days of the past. Even though I was of that time when it was done, I never had a teacher, not one, who tapped heads or fingers or gave whacks on the behind. I never had a yelling teacher that I can remember. There was a boy sent to the principal's office once and he came back to class quiet and behaved.

Those were the days when caning was an exceptable part of punishment CC..these days the authorities would most probably haul you in for child abuse..think a fly swatter would have been a better option.

C.C. ...so it was the cane in school back then, eh?
Here it was a rap on th knuckles for talking out loud or whispering too loud...occasionally the crime was serious enough to warrant the use of the strap....I always remember one of the boys pulling his hand away as the strap descended and the teacher ended up taking the smack....lots of memories, but I think I lost my appetite for supper (wonder why?..
