I also find that warmth and comfort is my kitchen on a cold day--coffee maker going, something in the toaster oven, crockpot on high, boiling water for my teapot.

Oh how wonderful. I loved Oxtail soup. There was one company who put it out years ago as a dry mix and I loved making it. Perhaps it got caught up in the red tape I have not seen it in years. I am sorry about your grandfather.

I have been looking at your lovely photos Justi, I missed seeing your blogs for some reason. It is amazing the space that you share . My ma always made soups out of the chicken or anything that she could afford. She had learned the hard way being in a family of eight young ones and no money for weeks after her Daddy was killed in the first war. We loved Oxtail but I don't think they are sold now due to some regulation. A woman told me once when they were small they used to eat pig's tails, now waste food is collected weekly because it fills the rubbish pits too quickly. Ironic is it not.
