ChCh --- this is so powerful --- like a portrait bearing so much. Brings about passion and feelings. Beautiful poem - rather fantastic poetry ~ E.E.

blacksmith and young girl - so different and yet so much alike....
Hardened in their own ways, and yet one senses a softness in both...but both are blinded by their hardness to whatever love could possibly exist, if they were to give it a chance.....so real, C.C., I could hear the clang of the smithy's anvil and feel the heat from the fire...

An unrequited love story told in the old English way CC...great metaphor and substance in this poem.

Reading this I felt as though I were there. All walks of life experience the highs and lows of love in the same manner.

This is a keeper for me.....the written picture of physical labour and mental anguish is blended to perfection........ Dickens.....!
