I will pray for Mr. James, too! What a strange ailment he had! I think at 79 he should just kick back and enjoy life! sam

Well FS you are a caring firm and no one can go on for ever. Some love the interaction of the company and old buddies. Years past quite a few men died soon after they retired, I guess they felt useless and had no other interests. I hope Harry can have a walk along and see you now and again until he feels more secure.

He hung in there for a long time didn't he.  Reminds me of my BIL who just retired at 78, not for his own health but to take care of my Sis who has dementia.  You've got me playing some wonderful music in honor of both--a great Harry James Mix from youtube.

Seventy-Nine and he is still contemplating whether to work or not inspite of his illness. Puts to shame those who retire at 55 FSI.

God bless Harry James and I will join in prayer with you - in thoughts of this dear Man who blessed you and your fathers lives with the business.  Very sobering thought of him with chest pain - Elyse

I had worked with someone like that.

She worked up till she was only weeks from death, as she had gotten cancer for the second time in her long life.
It's very sad.  It seems like some older people just need that as something in their life to help them keep going and feel alive.
I'm sure he is not happy to have to retire.  Sometimes our bodies limit us much more than we'd like.

Harry will always go back and forth between the two trains of though because when he is not feeling well he will be glad he is retired and does not have to drag himself to work, then on the days he feels his chipper self, he will be wishing he was working so he would be doing something.  I pray he feels better more often than not.

he reminds me of a lady that was working with me until a month or so ago she has been gone and I have never heard why or if she retired, she is in her 80's a lot older than I would ever want to work, and she was working full time

It most certainly sounds like Harry is doing the right thing...

hopefully he can adjust to the new lifestyle retirement offers, and not go stir crazy as a result.

...will remember him in prayer...

Did your Dad give him a nice card and retirement gift? I think when you work somewhere for over ten or so years and you retire it is nice for the place you work to give yoou a card and a gift to say thank you. Some places don't do it but I think it's a nice thing anyway. It must have been hard for him with such pain in his hands it's best he's retired willingly. Your Dad can hopefully find someone else to replace him with so many people unemployed these days.

and hope he may enjoy a happy retirement. At 79 he certainly deserves to I think.
