That is beautiful.
It looks suspiciously like walnut wood. I love walnut wood. I will stop drinking in the photo now and go and do something else... Maybe one more look...ha ha

Well Kabu it kind of tinkles a keeps ringing the bells now if you look back two places you will see what took over from musical boxes because it played tunes to sing along with.

 stunning capture --- What a Gentleman to let you photograph such a priceless gem.  This is very rare - such quality Cc...

I must share with you this link --- follow the page down to near the it the bottom of the page and listen to the music (a little grey box) that this particular box plays (the music on this box is : "Sweet Violets" by Joseph Emmet from an 1882 play : "Fritz Among the Gypsies" ) --- I actually believe your Gentleman's here is 'older' ---  ~  Thank you for this treat ~ truly = E.E.

This is the lid which is obvious this musical box  is about 1880.
