Re:

Well, as usual technology breaks down what appears to be 'a work of art' --- strong and capable and then, replaces with a newfangled, modern more easy contraption ----

reminds me of my old Uncle Charlie :   at least of what I could understand... LOL ~

Truly you've done some good study on this...I am so impressed.  and I do adore the music box and now I understand why the 'disc' and how people have just that for 'sale' --- WOW I feel all smart now - and am on the 'hunt' for these ~ my day job is all about 'hunt' and well, helping others enjoy "history" (cause the sales are slowwwww.)  ~ Have a goodnight dear Cc - E.E.

This is the works it is a lever worked machine the key wind were earlier but this has a stronger spring. The bells require a bit stronger mechanism as one would expect. These machines were probably the state of the art, but were replaced by our old friend next subject. THe next subject was replaced by radio and a lot of folk wishing to be trendy used their musical boxes to house the radio fittings, this might explain a few odd rollers hanging around. Please go to previous subject .
