Ah, but I'm sorry to say, not a patch on the beautiful game (football to us, soccer to you!)

An awful lot of people are fair-weather fans that abandon watching games when teams are down.  But, there are always the faithful fans that stick with their teams no matter what.

I know that sports has an impact on many lives, but I never realized

I know what you mean with a team impacting a town! My town sports minor league hockey, baseball and D league basketball, they do not impact all that dramatically but when the college football team is playing it's like living in a ghost town! sam

I see to what extent sports can have a bearing on business such as yours.

FSI, the Baltimore pro football has a rich history and
an avid fan base (much like the Detroit Red Wings in hockey)...the Lions are a lost cause year after year..I think most of Detroit heads for the car washes on Sunday afternoons......

I remeber being inAthens in Greece when there was a soccer or
basketball match on and the restuarants wouldn't serve you even....the cooks and waiters were watching the game. Nobody around anywhere.

FSI, I don't follow sports --- but you write so interestingly of it that you should write sports commentary posts...  - May your business continue to 'thrive' and excel ~ Elyse

Hi,

You write very well.  Have you ever considered freelancing? I enjoy this and all of your blogs.

Not too bad FS you seem to ride it pretty well perhaps they get a wash down after a win.

Interesting survey.

Ha! Everything here comes to a standstill when our Canadiens play hockey. Not so much for the other sports, although the Formula 1 will do it too when it's in the city during the summer. You are so right though - sports can have an impact on business; sometimes good, sometimes not.
