Perhaps they are better than rats Justi , can't you get a pest repellant that just emits sounds they do not like. The trouble is if one gets rid of one chipmunk I expect another takes the up the lodgings. We have them for cats dogs rats mice, fleas, not spiders, but I saw a spray that doesn't hurt spiders, they just don't like the smell and go next door. Take it easy, you

LOL - you have my mouth watering again. For sure I am going to be sending for more fig jelly (all out), but am waiting for Hallowe'en, when my house will be flooded with hungry people - to see what else will be missing. Maybe Mercy is the right name for the cat!!
