I see the same mindset each day, delivering meals on wheels!
Our Council of Senior Citizens, asks for some kind of a donation, (whatever one can comfortably afford) to help defray a little bit of the expense involved in delivering meals to the many shut-ins and needy people, all across our entire county. Out of the five meal delivery routes, if we ever get any kind of a donation from 20% of those who receive meals, it is a good week. By far, MOST NEVER give a cent, although nearly ALL could afford to. For those who live in the far corners of Arenac County, at half a dollar per mile, paid to the drivers to use their own car and to pay for gas, some of them cost several dollars per day, disregarding the considerable cost for food and its preparation. I wonder just when "Donation" became "Free!"
