Go to A DAY OR SO IN MY LIFE! WHO CARES?Add a commentGo to DEPRESSION HIGHWAYS

My grandfather rode the rails during the depression, looking for a job. He ended up in a chair factory in Indiana. My grandmother and the girls joined him there until work was available in Georgia again. I think a lot of folks never returned to the South afterwards.

YOUR HOBO WAS OUR SWAGMAN....BOTH TRAMPING THE HIGHWAYS
AND BYWAYS. FAMILIES USED TO HELP EACH OTHER ...REMEMBER...WE ALL PAID MY GRANDMOTHER MONEY SO SHE COULD BE COMFORTABLE ALL HER 93 YEARS.

Times have changed, haven't they, Justi? You're allowed to let off a little steam, because I remember your great heart when you both were giving so much of your own time and love to the girls in the institution, doing more than your share to give them a helping hand and all of it without judgment.

Hi Justi I don't think many would call asking for work these days as a woman told me she was having a new carpet and asked the neighbour if she would like the old one as it was still quite nice. No was the reply the social has put new carpets all over the house. For years we never bought anything new if we wanted a cooker we would try and buy one second hand.

I have got now that I just buy what I want, but it is still a struggle to do that sometimes.

It is true ,  many now a days have their hand out and expect rather than hope for  a handout, getting angry if they are not given it and always wanting more and more if they do get it.  It is true and sad and frustrating. But we  can not forget we must love our neighbors.  It does not say in the bible "love your good hard working neighbors" it says just love them as you would love yourself. So, we have to be kind and charitable even to those that have a  house full  of anchor babies and are living of our hard earned tax money and try very hard not to judge them because they will have their day of judgement with someone much wiser than we are. ~ " Try to love all , no matter who they are or what they do for He who came to die for our sins  loved like that, and though its hard because we are human and not divine... try to put their faults out of your mind and see them as your brothers and sisters , children of the same and only G-d" ~  That is what my grandmama, a French woman raised in your beloved Alabama said many times to me. Now my other grandmother born in the Holly Land used to say " an eye for an eye"  and "charity starts at home" so if one listened to her you are absolutely right...  By the way ...  That is probably  why I am so crazy sometimes both grandmothers telling my heart oppossing views  loll   Be well Justi  xoxoxoxo

these days you are afraid to open the door to strangers, but I could put one to work if we did
