A great post, Kabu. I can picture Mandy lying around, her eyes always on your mom. Pets can certainly steal our hearts.

Mandy
Animals are such a great comfort and they are like we humans they either like you or not and they can become best friends as in your Mother's relationship with Mandy/LBJ

How lovely, Dear Kabu..

Animals can and do become as soul relatives. I always wish people could see these bonds; which are for so many unconditionally loving and accepting in regards to size, color, temperament, species, etc., as a wisdom universal.

Kabu, I can just picture Mandy sleeping in or on one of those
swing thingies ("Jolly Jumper"?)...sounds like a very smart and loveable dog.

How lovely it was that your mother and Mandy hit it off so well. Family dogs or in your case sheepdogs seem to have a person that they really like. Your mom fits that bill.

Kabu bringing back memories.
What a nice memory of your Mum and her doggy, My poor old collie wasn't chained he had a run and a proper kennel with straw. He was alright until when he was older he was terrified of lightening and used to escape somehow and run loose. I was always afraid he would cause an accident, so in the end if there was a thunder clap I let him run indoors and sleep at the bottom of the stairs.

I love your puppy stories. When I first joined back in 2004, I wrote quite a few myself in a Pets blog. It was fun. I don't have those anymore. But, I surely do still have the memories of Jill, Dopey, Fred, Terry, Chipper, Brownie, Benny, Rusty and Shep.

What a sweet story!! When I was younger, my parents didn't like pets in the house either. At least your mother snuck one through - I wish MY mother was like that!

my daughter claims our two dogs, but they seem to prefer me as I am here more. as a kid we only had one dog that I can recall and it was not allowed in the house.
