Hm, I've not seen it offered anywhere. The comment I've heard to describe grey squirrels is "tree rat" - and who wants to eat rat??

My Dad used to go squirrel hunting
but I don't remember Mom ever cooking any. I remember one time he came home and had a baby squirrel in his pocket. He named him Freddie the Freeloader. He said the little thing ran up to him and he reach down and but his hand out and the squirrel hopped on. He put him in his pocket and brought him home.

Love Shelly b's picture. They always seem to be looking for something FAB to eat - Ugh! Give me lettuce & tomatoes anyday! Sorry, Kabu - I know how you feel about the little fellas.

Isn't it funny that a squirrel as food upsets more than a huge cow.
Maybe cows need to be goofier and then we will feel bad about eating them, too.

My dad was a squirrel man. In MO though, they were pretty much the red squirrels. He would hunt them and clean them and then mom would whip up stewed squirrel and dumplings. I wouldn't touch them, so mom would make me peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches on squirrel day.

Gulpp..:)
Dear Kabu, must admit having been raised in a family of hunters, I was encouraged to eat squirrel as a child - cooked up with homemade dumplings; many said yum, I was glum furtively picking the "meat" away from the Grandmotherly delicacy - and turtle, frog, rabbit, deer...I had tastes of all, under duress, lol, but as I got older, I just said No way Jose!

I mean these are my beloved forest friends, not to sound too childish about it..
