Um, no we haven't really so much.

Goodness me we have come a long way in our thinking as a species over the last what....20 thousand years...give or take a few years.

It is just that fewer are doing it than before and taking all of it for themselves.

Kabu

Well Kabu I always believe in giving a a lady what she wants. So shall we talk about giving things away. People used to put wheelbarrows of apples outside their gate with 'Please help yourself.' Being in a nostalgic mood I picked a large bunch of pinks and sweet peas bought a plastic chair and put the flowers on the chair with a note Help etc.  Four hours later they were still intact. This week three people have mentioned to me that they meant to have some on the way back from town. I am now thinking I might try it with apples as a new experiment. I gave the flowers to an old neighbor. Vote for me

They could have been survival of the fittest too in their own way and no one was around to record it.  Sad that human nature gets that way.  Now I want to get in a canoe and paddle on a lake.

we are doing basically the same thing here today too, in Windsor....
Gas is close to $1. a litre, and like you say Kabu, the oil companies know exactly what they are doing and there is no coincidences involved, just "highway robbery", so to speak...tomorrow after the holiday they'll start lowering the price again.....

It is a human condition........
when we become civilized...we enact the rule of law, and establish spiritual guidance  mores to demonstrate the differences between right and wrong......unfortunately apathy erodes away and dilutes those mores while secularism tears down the established traditions or rules of behavior.......

Kabuiepie-;)
You can't believe an archaeologist, they came and dug everything up, like native burial grounds, discovered gold, made fortunes and then left to go do the same thing in Australia. But I'm happy you enjoyed the book darlin' and thanks for a wonderfully lazy weekend that we can do again all week.

Ah - the first on my list of downloads for the Kindle the kids gave me - thanks for that, Kabu! Is it a holiday in Ontario this w-end? And you're right - we haven't changed all that much - power and greed are still predominant.

There are more and more Native or First Nations writers
getting into print. One of my favorites is Louise Erdrich, part Ojibway, part German descent, whose stories are strong and interesting with magic realism and much of the old cultures.

There is nothing like staying at home and relaxing...I wonder when people are going to have enough of the gas prices being where they are. In my area people are accepting. I guess we've been conditioned to be happy when gas is not $4 (U.S.) for a gallon of regular gas...There are stories about the settling of America that make my skin crawl.
